Shri Ramana Maharshi
This blog is about the life journey of Shri Ramana Maharshi, who was one of the most influential spiritual leaders of the 20th century. When I first came across the story of Shri Ramana Maharshi, I was so fascinated by his life journey and his teachings that, I could not think of anything else for many days. I was just absorbing everything that I had read about him.
Shri Ramana Maharshi’s story validates the sanskrit proverb, ‘Yatha Brahmande tatha pinde’ (यथा ब्रह्माण्डे तथा पिण्डे ) meaning; whatever is present in the universe, is also present in our body. It suggests a deep connection between the macrocosm and the microcosm, highlighting the inherent unity and interdependence between the outer world and our inner selves.
There is also a phrase in Shri Guru Granth Sahib, which conveys the same message. It says, ‘Jo Brahmande, soi pinde, jo khojey so paave’, meaning; ‘The one who seeks shall find, for what exists in the universe also resides within oneself’. This phrase emphasises that the vastness of the universe is open and accessible to anyone who desires to uncover the truth. Every individual possesses the freedom to explore and connect with the profound knowledge and wisdom that the universe holds.
